Al Nassr have appointed former Tottenham and Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou as their new head coach on a two-year contract.

Al Nassr have confirmed the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as the club’s new head coach, handing the former Tottenham Hotspur manager a two-year contract as he begins a fresh chapter in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Pro League champions announced the deal on Friday, welcoming the Australian to the club and wishing him success as he takes charge of a squad led by Cristiano Ronaldo. Postecoglou arrives looking to rebuild his reputation after two difficult spells in the Premier League.

The 60-year-old was dismissed by Tottenham just two weeks after leading the North London club to Europa League glory in 2025. Despite ending Spurs’ long wait for silverware, a disappointing 17th-place finish in the Premier League ultimately cost him his job.

His next opportunity came with Nottingham Forest during the 2025/26 campaign, but that spell proved even shorter. Postecoglou lasted only 39 days after failing to win any of his opening eight matches, a run that included six defeats and brought his reign to an abrupt end.

Before accepting the Al Nassr role, Postecoglou had been linked with the vacant Scotland job following Steve Clarke’s departure after the World Cup, while Kazakhstan also showed interest. However, reports suggested his salary demands prevented a move to the Central Asian nation.

Postecoglou now inherits a confident Al Nassr side after Cristiano Ronaldo inspired the club to the Saudi Pro League title on the final day of last season. The Australian will hope his well-known record of delivering trophies in his second season continues, having previously won league titles with Celtic, Brisbane Roar and Yokohama F. Marinos.
