Germany are set to make a decision on Julian Nagelsmann’s future within days following their World Cup exit, with Jürgen Klopp emerging as a potential replacement.
Germany are expected to decide Julian Nagelsmann’s future as national team coach within the next few days following the country’s disappointing exit at the hands of Paraguay.
The four-time world champions were eliminated in the Round of 32 after losing on penalties, bringing an abrupt end to a tournament that had begun with hopes of a deep run.

Their early exit has immediately placed Nagelsmann’s position under intense scrutiny.
According to DFB president Bernd Neuendorf, an initial post-tournament review has already taken place. The first analysis meeting between the German Football Association’s leadership and Nagelsmann was held less than 24 hours after the defeat.
Further discussions are scheduled once the squad and coaching staff return to Germany. Rather than allowing uncertainty to linger, the DFB intends to reach a final decision within days instead of weeks.
Before the World Cup began, Germany’s minimum objective was to reach the Round of 16, with a place in the quarter-finals viewed as the benchmark for a successful campaign. Failing to progress beyond the first knockout round has inevitably raised questions over whether Nagelsmann remains the right man to lead the national team.
Despite the growing speculation, the 38-year-old is understood to be keen to continue in the role. Nagelsmann reportedly wants to stay and oversee Germany’s next cycle, but the final decision now rests entirely with the DFB hierarchy.

Should Germany opt for a change, former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has emerged as the leading candidate to replace him. Reports suggest the highly regarded coach would be open to returning to management if approached by the German Football Association and is intrigued by the prospect of leading his country.
