The Nigeria striker must find a team that suits his playing style, says Julio Baptista
Victor Osimhen has been sent a major warning about his future destination, as the Nigeria No 9 continues to ponder over his next club.
Osimhen has been linked with a host of big clubs, including Premier League clubs Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea, and former Arsenal and Real Madrid midfielder Julio Baptista believes that he needs to join a team that plays to his strengths.
“He’s been linked with Manchester United,” said Baptista in an interview with Foot Italia, “but is he going to get the chances there? I have my doubts about that.”
“It’s a little bit difficult because Osimhen needs to think very carefully about the system the coach plays of the club that he joins. If they put you in the team, it has to work.
“This is the work for the agents now, but the player needs to pay attention too, which is why I would have doubts about Manchester United.
“They need to look a lot at how this club plays, if they care about if they have the ball or not, what the movement is, what the coach is asking [of] the striker.”
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli last summer, has scored 29 goals in 34 matches so far this season, and Baptista believes he is ready to play at the highest level.
“I believe that he’s prepared,” said the Brazilian. “He’s in good form, is in shape, and he scored a lot of goals, so we’ll see.”
