Inter Milan have confirmed the departures of Yann Sommer, Francesco Acerbi and Matteo Darmian after their contracts expired.

Inter have officially confirmed the departures of experienced trio Yann Sommer, Francesco Acerbi and Matteo Darmian after their contracts expired, bringing an end to three successful spells at San Siro.

The club paid tribute to all three players with heartfelt messages, thanking them for their service and achievements in Nerazzurri colours.

Goalkeeper Yann Sommer leaves after joining Inter from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023. The 37-year-old established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper over the past three seasons, making 100 Serie A appearances and featuring 139 times across all competitions.

During his time in Milan, the former Switzerland international played a key role in one of the club’s most successful recent periods. Sommer helped Inter win two Serie A titles, a Coppa Italia and a Supercoppa Italiana, while also reaching the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League final.

Francesco Acerbi also departs after a memorable spell that began in 2022. The veteran centre-back made 101 Serie A appearances and 148 matches in all competitions, becoming an important figure in Inter’s defence through his leadership and consistency.

Acerbi leaves with an impressive collection of honours, including two Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia trophies and two Supercoppa Italiana triumphs. He also helped Inter reach two Champions League finals during the 2022-23 and 2024-25 campaigns, cementing his place in the club’s recent history.

Matteo Darmian’s departure marks the end of a six-year stay at San Siro. The versatile defender made 150 Serie A appearances and 218 matches in all competitions, proving to be one of the club’s most dependable performers across multiple positions.

Darmian enjoyed remarkable success during his time with the Nerazzurri, winning three Serie A titles, three domestic cup competitions and three Supercoppa Italiana trophies. Like Acerbi, he also featured in two Champions League final runs, making valuable contributions throughout his spell at the club.

Inter’s summer rebuild may not stop there, with Stefan de Vrij’s contract also expiring. Although the Dutch defender was offered the chance to extend his stay, recent reports suggest he is now expected to continue his career with Panathinaikos, signalling another significant change to Inter’s experienced defensive core ahead of the new season.
