Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Neymar is available for the Selecao’s final World Cup group-stage match against Scotland.

Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Neymar will return to the squad for Wednesday’s crucial World Cup clash against Scotland.

The Brazilian star has recovered from the calf injury that kept him out of the Selecao’s opening two matches and is now available as the team looks to secure top spot in Group C.

Speaking during a press conference at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Tuesday, Ancelotti expressed his delight at having the forward back in contention. The Italian manager revealed that Neymar had trained well throughout the week and was ready to contribute when called upon.

“Neymar is available. He trained well during the week and prepared well for the game. We are very happy that he is back. With his quality, he can help the team,” Ancelotti told reporters ahead of the decisive encounter.

Although Neymar is fit enough to return, Brazil’s coaching staff are expected to manage his minutes carefully. Reports suggest the 34-year-old could feature for around 15 minutes as he continues to rebuild match fitness before the knockout rounds begin.

Ancelotti appeared relaxed when discussing the forward’s condition, joking about Neymar’s readiness while emphasizing that he has fully recovered. “He can play. I can play 90 minutes walking. He can play, he’s fine. He trained very well. I’m very happy with him,” the coach said with a smile.

Neymar’s return marks the end of a lengthy absence from international football. His last appearance for Brazil came on October 17, 2023, during a 2-0 defeat to Uruguay in a World Cup qualifier.

In that match, he suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury along with meniscus damage to his left knee.

After a long rehabilitation process, Neymar has worked his way back into the national team setup and earned a place in Ancelotti’s World Cup squad.

“Neymar’s attitude these days has been very good. He knows his teammates very well. He worked very well, with a lot of seriousness, trying to recover as soon as possible,” Ancelotti said.

He added that even when not playing, Neymar’s experience and understanding of the game have helped guide Brazil’s younger players.

Brazil head into the Scotland match knowing that victory would guarantee first place in Group C and provide valuable momentum heading into the knockout stages.
