Napoli are considering a move for PSV goalkeeper Matej Kovar as Vanja Milinkovic-Savic closes in on a potential transfer to Saudi Arabia
Napoli are already planning for life after Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, with the Serbian goalkeeper increasingly expected to leave the club just a year after arriving in Naples.
Sporting director Giovanni Manna has reportedly identified PSV shot-stopper Matej Kovar as the ideal replacement as the club reshapes its squad ahead of the new season.
Milinkovic-Savic joined Napoli for around €20 million and was initially viewed as a long-term solution between the posts. However, the club’s plans have shifted, with Alex Meret now expected to reclaim the role of first-choice goalkeeper under incoming manager Massimiliano Allegri.

As a result, Napoli are prepared to listen to offers for the Serbian international. One destination that has gained significant traction is Saudi Arabia, where Milinkovic-Savic could reunite with family.
His brother, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, currently plays for Al-Hilal under former Inter coach Simone Inzaghi, making the switch an attractive possibility for the Napoli goalkeeper.
With the prospect of a departure growing stronger, Napoli have accelerated their search for a replacement. Kovar has emerged as the leading candidate, with Manna said to be a long-time admirer of the Czech Republic international.
Currently representing his country at the World Cup, Kovar has built a reputation as a modern goalkeeper who is comfortable in possession and capable of playing out from the back.
Beyond his technical ability, Napoli view the former Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper as a player who can become a key part of the club’s long-term project. At a younger age profile, Kovar represents both an investment for the future and a potential upgrade in a crucial position.
Meanwhile, Napoli continue to work on strengthening their defence.
Lazio centre-back Mario Gila remains a major target, with negotiations progressing after Lazio reportedly reduced their asking price from €30 million to €20 million.
Napoli are currently holding firm at €15 million, but with Lazio needing to balance their finances, a compromise could soon be reached as Allegri’s squad rebuild gathers momentum.
