The Italian insists he continues to enjoy a positive relationship with the club hierarchy

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has squashed rumours that he has fallen out with the board, following criticism of the club’s heavy defeat to Arsenal in the Champions League and reports that the Italian could be on his way out of the club by season end.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of Sunday’s La Liga match against Athletic Club, Ancelotti said that such claims were unfounded.

“Whoever is talking about a clash with the club or the president isn’t telling the truth,” said the 65-year-old, who has won the Champions League five times as a coach. “The truth is that these are the moments when the president shows me the greatest support. Even more so than when we’re winning.

“This is the reality of the world we live in, where everything is questioned all the time. This is a club that has won almost 30 trophies in 11 years. I’m not worried about people questioning me at all.”

Real Madrid are four points behind Barcelona at the top of La Liga, with only six games to play. However, both sides still face each other in the Copa del Rey final on 26 April, where Madrid will have the opportunity to win silverware this season and deny their biggest rivals any hope of a treble win.

Probed further about his relationship with the club Ancelotti said: “I’ve always had a wonderful relationship with the club, ever since I arrived. It’s the same now, and will continue to be so.

“We’ll always stick together, as has been the case through everything we’ve done, and all we continue to do. We have never had, and will never have, any kind of conflict.

“To say there has been a clash between the club and myself is not the case and it is lying to people.”
