Atalanta have appointed Maurizio Sarri as their new head coach following the dismissal of Raffaele Palladino.
Maurizio Sarri has been appointed as the new head coach of Atalanta, with the Serie A side confirming the arrival of the experienced Italian manager following the dismissal of Raffaele Palladino last week.

The 67-year-old returns to management only a few weeks after mutually agreeing to end his spell with Lazio. After a difficult period in Rome, Sarri now takes on a fresh challenge with one of Italy’s most ambitious clubs.
For Sarri, the appointment also carries personal significance. The veteran tactician spent part of his childhood in the Bergamo region and now returns to the area as the man entrusted with leading Atalanta into a new chapter.

His immediate priority will be rebuilding a side that struggled to maintain the standards set during Gian Piero Gasperini’s highly successful nine-year reign. Expectations remain high after years of progress, but the club endured a disappointing campaign.
Atalanta finished seventh in Serie A last season, falling short of the positions required to secure a place among Europe’s elite competitions. The result was viewed as a significant setback for a club that had become a regular challenger near the top of the table.
Their problems were also evident in Europe, where they suffered a disappointing Champions League campaign. Hopes of a deep run were ended in the round of 16 after a difficult encounter against Bayern Munich.
The German giants overwhelmed Atalanta with a crushing 10-2 aggregate victory, a result that ultimately accelerated the end of Palladino’s brief spell in charge after less than seven months at the helm.
Now, Sarri arrives with the responsibility of restoring confidence, identity and competitiveness.
The former Napoli, Chelsea and Lazio boss will be expected to guide Atalanta back into the fight for European qualification and establish a foundation for long-term success in Bergamo.
