Manchester United and rivals Liverpool may go head-to-head in race for 25-year-old

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo this summer, as manager Ruben Amorim seeks to bolster his attacking options. The 25-year-old Ghanaian has also attracted interest from Liverpool.

Semenyo has been a key part of Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth team this season. He can play on both the left and right side of attack.

Iraola, speaking to Sky Sports journalists in November, told big clubs in the Premier League not to “look too much” at his forward as he wants him to remain at the Vitality Stadium. Semenyo still has four years left on his contract with the Cherries, having signed a new deal last year.

The 25-year-old, who has scored 10 goals and delivered six assists in 36 games in all competitions this season, was signed from Championship side Bristol City for £10.5 million in 2023.

Manchester United head coach Amorim is reported to be keen on bringing Semenyo to Old Trafford in what is expected to be a busy summer for United. The Red Devils are expected to see a host of forwards leave the club permanently in the summer. These include Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho, who it is understood are likely to remain with their current loan clubs.

It could take up to a fee in the region of £70 million to prise Semenyo from Bournemouth, although a deal involving a lower initial fee with add-ons is possible. However, United may have to contest with their rivals Liverpool for Semenyo’s signature.
