Which signing changed the game for the Premier League big boys and who was the best signing overall?

Just like with every season, Premier League clubs always go into the transfer market, looking for that player that could turn their season around.

Some signed attackers, others showed up the defence and midfield. Now that the season is over, we’ll take a look at these signings and highlight the ones that changed their respective seasons.

Arsenal: Gyokeres 

For Arsenal, the main goal was getting a striker and the Gunners didn’t mind paying as much as £55m to get a formidable one in Gyokeres.

The Swede had rounded an impressive season in Sporting Lisbon in Portugal and Arsenal bought to replicate the same in their Premier League winning season.

Although Gyokeres didn’t hit the standards expected of him, he was instrumental for Arsenal during the course of the season.

He scored a total of 15 goals in domestic competitions while netting 5 in the Champions League. Overall, he had an impactful season for the Gunners, which helped the Gunners finally get over the line and win the Premier League title.

Liverpool: Hugo Ekitike

Liverpool spent a lot of money bringing in the likes of Ekitike, Kerkez and Frimpong as they pushed to defend the Premier League title.

There was even more controversy when they broke the bank to buy Isak. There were questions on how Ekitike would fit into the grand plan.

Over the course of the season, Ekitike showed his worth and proved to be a better signing than Isak who was mostly injured and out of sync with the squad.

Ekitike scored 11 goals and provided 5 assists in 28 Premier League appearances which was a better return than Isak’s 3 goals and one assists in 14 appearances.

Until his injury, Ekitike was Liverpool’s brightest spark in attack, especially with Salah and Gakpo struggling to find their form.

Manchester United: Senne Lammens

Goalkeepers are just as important to the game as any other outfield player and Lammens proved that for Manchester United in the 2025/26 season.

After spending the past couple of years with Onana and his constant mistakes in goal, the Manchester United hierarchy finally decided to do something about it.

Coming from Royal Antwerp, Lammens was the fix Manchester United needed all along. He was confident in goal and projected that confidence onto his defenders, allowing them to play with more freedom and less fear that he would cost them the game.

Lammens kept 8 clean sheets with a save percentage of 88.9%. He also prevented 5.5 more goals than the average Premier League goalkeeper.

Manchester City: Marc Guehi

Marc Guehi’s transfer to Manchester City proved to be a turning point in Manchester City’s season.

Signed from Crystal Palace in January to strengthen an injury-hit defence, the England international quickly brought stability to Pep Guardiola’s back line.

Guehi made an immediate impact, helping City keep a clean sheet on his debut, while his composure in possession saw him record a pass completion rate of 94.1% — the highest among City players in the Premier League during the 2025/26 campaign

Although he will be remembered for the error vs Everton that ended up costing City the title, he was one of the team’s most reliable performers as City recovered from a difficult mid-season spell.

Chelsea: Joao Pedro

In a season filled with unhappy endings, Joao Pedro is Chelsea’s biggest positive. The Brazilian signed for Chelsea during the FIFA Club World Cup and he immediately hit the ground running.

He was the Blues brightest player in attack, scoring 18 goals and providing 5 assists in 48 appearances. He was also Chelsea’s player of the season and by a country mile, the best signing of the season.

Without his attacking input, Chelsea would’ve really struggled in the 2025/26 season.
