Bukayo Saka says Arsenal’s Premier League title has silenced critics, reflecting on the club’s rise from difficult times and the mindset shift that powered their title-winning season.

Bukayo Saka says Arsenal’s Premier League triumph has finally silenced their critics, describing the title win as the end of years of doubt and ridicule aimed at the club.

The England winger reflected on Arsenal’s difficult past, pointing back to a viral social media post he made in 2020 during a bleak period for the North London side.

At the time, Arsenal were struggling near the bottom half of the table, and Saka had written “You deserve more Arsenal fans” alongside an image of his younger self looking dejected.

Now, after helping Arsenal end a 22-year wait for the Premier League title, Saka says the journey from that low point makes the achievement even more meaningful.

Speaking to former Arsenal striker Ian Wright, the 24-year-old admitted he was “in a dark place” when he posted the message, as criticism and banter around the club intensified.

Saka said he felt the need to express his emotions at the time, adding that Arsenal’s reputation among rivals and online critics had made the struggles harder to take.

“People laugh about Arsenal,” he said, stressing that the perception around the club was a constant source of motivation during their rebuild.

But after lifting the trophy following a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, Saka said the moment felt surreal and described it as a dream finally realised for the squad.

He closed with a confident message about Arsenal’s transformation, saying: “No more jokes, it’s our time,” as the club now look to build on their championship success.
