West Ham beat Leeds United 3-0 on the final day of the Premier League season, but Tottenham’s victory over Everton condemned the Hammers to relegation
West Ham United’s fight for Premier League survival ended in heartbreak despite a convincing 3-0 victory over Leeds United at the London Stadium.
The Hammers produced a strong second-half display, but Tottenham Hotspur’s win over Everton sealed their fate and confirmed relegation to the Championship.

The pressure surrounding the occasion was visible from the opening whistle, with both teams struggling to settle into rhythm early on.
Leeds created the first meaningful opportunity when Lukas Nmecha dragged an effort wide in the seventh minute, while West Ham’s nervous start frustrated the home supporters.
West Ham gradually began to grow into the game, but clear-cut chances remained difficult to create. Mateus Fernandes finally forced Karl Darlow into action with a powerful long-range effort midway through the first half, offering the hosts a rare moment of attacking quality.
Leeds, already safe from relegation, looked far more comfortable for large parts of the opening period. Dominic Calvert-Lewin twice came close to breaking the deadlock, first being denied by a brave stop before seeing another dangerous effort blocked inside the area.
The Hammers ended the first half with more urgency, creating two opportunities just before the break. Taty Castellanos headed over from close range before Pablo fired into the side netting after meeting El Hadji Malick Diouf’s inviting cross.
Manager Nuno Espirito Santo turned to his bench at half-time, introducing Callum Wilson, and the substitute quickly helped inject energy into West Ham’s attack.
Although Castellanos initially wasted a promising opportunity after Wilson’s clever pass, the striker eventually found the breakthrough in the 66th minute with a powerful header from Jarrod Bowen’s corner.
West Ham continued to push forward as desperation turned into belief. Bowen doubled the lead late on after racing onto Fernandes’ brilliant through ball before finishing superbly from a tight angle with his weaker foot.
Wilson then added a third goal deep into stoppage time, drilling home from the edge of the area to cap an impressive second-half performance. The celebrations inside the stadium, however, were short-lived as news filtered through that Tottenham had secured survival with victory over Everton.
Despite ending the campaign with an emphatic win, West Ham’s relegation was confirmed after results elsewhere went against them.

The Hammers will now prepare for life in the Championship for the first time since the 2011/12 season, while Leeds can reflect positively on a successful return to the Premier League after comfortably securing survival.
