Tottenham defender Djed Spence has reportedly suffered a broken jaw after a collision with Chelsea striker Liam Delap during Spurs’ 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Tottenham defender Djed Spence has reportedly suffered a broken jaw following a heavy collision with Chelsea forward Liam Delap during Tuesday night’s Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.

The incident occurred late in Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea as both players challenged for the ball in an aerial duel. Spence was struck by Delap’s elbow during the challenge and immediately appeared to be in significant discomfort.

According to reports, medical assessments later confirmed that the Spurs defender sustained a broken jaw as a result of the collision.

Referee officials awarded Delap a yellow card for the incident during the match, but there was no further intervention from VAR, a decision that reportedly frustrated both Tottenham and Spence. The 25-year-old later appeared to express his disappointment on social media, seemingly questioning why the challenge was not reviewed more seriously by video officials.

The injury comes at a difficult moment for Tottenham, who are already dealing with mounting pressure in their fight to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Spurs’ defeat at Stamford Bridge means their survival battle will now go down to the final day of the season. Roberto De Zerbi’s side must now prepare for a crucial clash against Everton in North London.

It remains unclear how long Spence could be sidelined following the injury, but the reported broken jaw may force him to miss Tottenham’s decisive final fixture as the club attempts to preserve its Premier League status.
