Vincent Kompany says Bayern Munich have set a new benchmark after winning another Bundesliga title and breaking the league’s scoring record ahead of the German Cup final against Stuttgart.
Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany believes his side have set a new standard following another dominant Bundesliga campaign, but insists the season cannot yet be fully judged with the German Cup final still to come.

Speaking ahead of Bayern’s final league game of the season against Koln, Kompany said he would wait until after next week’s DFB-Pokal final before giving a complete assessment of Bayern’s campaign. The Bavarians face VfB Stuttgart in Berlin with the chance to secure their first domestic double in six years.

Bayern have already wrapped up the Bundesliga title weeks before the end of the season, continuing their dominance under Kompany. The Belgian coach has now won back-to-back league titles since taking charge at the Allianz Arena and has overseen one of the most explosive attacking campaigns in German football history.
The Bundesliga champions shattered the league’s long-standing single-season scoring record by netting 117 goals with one game still remaining. The previous record of 101 goals had stood since the legendary Bayern side of the 1971/72 season, underlining just how devastating Kompany’s current team have been in attack throughout the campaign.
Despite their domestic success, Bayern narrowly missed out on a place in the Champions League final after suffering a dramatic 6-5 aggregate defeat against holders Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals. Even so, Kompany pointed to the progress of several players and the emotional growth of the squad as major positives from the season.
The Bayern coach stressed that the club now has a responsibility to continue improving rather than becoming satisfied with their achievements. According to Kompany, the level produced this season has raised expectations internally, making further development the next major challenge for both the players and coaching staff.
Sporting director Max Eberl echoed those sentiments and insisted Bayern have no intention of slowing down before the cup final. He described Bayern’s league campaign as something special and emphasized that winning the DFB-Pokal would complete an exceptional season for the club.
