Borussia Dortmund are likely to be without Ramy Bensebaini for the rest of the season, but Adeyemi, Süle and Nmecha are closing in on returns ahead of the clash with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Borussia Dortmund are expected to be without Ramy Bensebaini for the remainder of the Bundesliga season, dealing a blow to their defensive options ahead of the final two matches.

Head coach Niko Kovač confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the Algerian defender will miss Friday’s crucial clash against Eintracht Frankfurt due to a persistent foot problem that has yet to fully heal. Bensebaini’s absence could extend beyond that fixture, with Kovač casting doubt over his chances of featuring in the final game of the campaign against Werder Bremen as well.

“Ramy won’t make it. He is still having pain in his foot,” Kovač explained, before suggesting that the defender’s season is effectively over. “I personally don’t think he will be ready for the next game in Bremen either, so that’s likely it for him in the Bundesliga for now.”

While that update represents a setback, Dortmund have been handed a timely boost elsewhere in the squad, with several key players edging closer to full fitness.

Karim Adeyemi is the most advanced in his recovery and is expected to be included in the squad for the Frankfurt match, offering Kovač a much-needed attacking option as the team pushes to finish the season strongly. Meanwhile, both Niklas Süle and Felix Nmecha are also making encouraging progress, although their availability remains uncertain heading into the weekend.

Kovač confirmed that a final decision on the duo will be made after Thursday’s training session, as Dortmund carefully assess whether they are ready to return without risking further setbacks.
