Napoli are prepared to sell Romelu Lukaku for around €20 million this summer, with the Belgian striker now increasingly likely to consider a return to the Premier League.

Romelu Lukaku could be set for another dramatic chapter in his winding career, with reports indicating that Napoli are willing to part ways with the striker this summer as they begin reshaping their attacking department.

The Belgian’s future in Italy now appears increasingly uncertain, and a move back to the Premier League is emerging as one of the most realistic outcomes.

Lukaku’s time in Naples has been badly disrupted by fitness problems. Recurring hamstring and muscular setbacks have restricted him to just seven appearances across the current campaign, with the veteran forward managing little more than an hour of total football. That lack of rhythm has made it almost impossible for him to build momentum, and his inability to stay available has significantly reduced his role in Antonio Conte’s plans.

Napoli’s patience appears to have reached its natural limit, especially as the club has already begun planning for a younger and more dynamic frontline. That transition was made clear with the permanent arrival of Rasmus Hojlund, a signing viewed internally as a cornerstone of Napoli’s long-term attacking rebuild. With Hojlund expected to lead the line moving forward, Lukaku has effectively become expendable.

Contractually, the timing also makes sense for Napoli. Lukaku has just over a year remaining on his current deal, meaning this summer represents one of the final windows in which the club can still recover a respectable transfer fee. Rather than risk carrying an injury-prone, high-earning striker deeper into the final year of his contract, Napoli are now prepared to cash in while there is still market value attached.

There were initial efforts to keep the Belgian within Serie A. Informal enquiries were reportedly directed toward both AC Milan and Inter Milan, clubs where Lukaku’s profile and experience would naturally fit. However, neither side is currently showing strong appetite to pursue a transfer, largely because of concerns surrounding his wages, age, and recent physical reliability.

Napoli are reportedly asking for around €20 million, a relatively modest fee for a striker of Lukaku’s pedigree, though any serious interest will depend heavily on salary expectations and medical assurances regarding his condition.
