AC Milan are reportedly closer to signing Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka on a free transfer.
AC Milan are closing in on what could prove to be one of the smartest pieces of business of the summer, with reports in Italy suggesting the Rossoneri are now in advanced talks to sign sign Leon Goretzka when his Bayern Munich contract expires at the end of the season.
The experienced German midfielder is set to become one of the most attractive free agents on the market, and AC Milan have moved quickly to place themselves at the front of the queue.
After weeks of quiet contact, negotiations between the Serie A club and Goretzka’s representatives are understood to have intensified significantly in recent days.

According to reports in Italy, there is growing confidence within Milan that an agreement can be reached, with the player now seriously considering a move to San Siro as the next chapter of his career. The Rossoneri hierarchy view him as the ideal profile to add leadership, physicality and Champions League pedigree to a midfield that has lacked consistency this season.
Talks are believed to be centred around a three-year contract worth approximately €5 million per season. The player is expected to make a final decision once Bayern complete their campaign and before he links up with Germany for the World Cup.
Massimiliano Allegri, who is already planning significant adjustments to his AC Milan squad ahead of next season, is said to be a strong admirer of the midfielder’s profile.

The Italian coach wants more steel, discipline and tactical intelligence in the centre of the park, and Goretzka’s arrival would immediately raise the competitive level in that department.
While the deal is not yet fully completed, AC Milan now appear to be in pole position to sign the midfielder.
