Inter Milan threw away a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw at Torino, but Federico Dimarco made Serie A history with a record-breaking assist haul.

Inter Milan missed the chance to take an even firmer grip on the Serie A title race after surrendering a two-goal lead in a dramatic 2-2 draw away to Torino.

Cristian Chivu’s men looked to be cruising toward another crucial victory that would have moved them within one win of the Scudetto, but a late Torino fightback ensured the celebrations must wait a little longer.

Inter had been the brighter side from the opening whistle and finally found the breakthrough in the 23rd minute when Marcus Thuram powered home a header from Federico Dimarco’s inviting cross. Torino offered almost nothing going forward in the first half, and Inter resumed after the break with the same authority, creating several openings that suggested a second goal was only a matter of time.

That second strike eventually arrived from a familiar source, as Dimarco delivered another precise set-piece and Yann Bisseck rose to nod home, seemingly putting the visitors in complete control.

In doing so, Dimarco made Serie A history. His second assist of the evening took him to 18 for the campaign, the highest assist tally ever recorded by a player in a single Serie A season.

Yet the game turned unexpectedly in the final 20 minutes when Giovanni Simeone pulled one back for Torino, injecting life into a contest that had looked dead and buried. Torino’s growing pressure was eventually rewarded when a VAR review penalized Carlos Augusto for handball, allowing Nikola Vlašić to calmly convert from the penalty spot and rescue a point for the hosts.

Although Inter dropped two valuable points, they still sit ten clear of Napoli and remain on the brink of the title, knowing victory over Parma next weekend would officially crown them champions.
