Napoli kept their slim Serie A title hopes alive with a commanding 4-0 win over US Cremonese at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

After suffering their first home league defeat of the season last weekend, Antonio Conte’s side came out with urgency and intent, pinning Cremonese back from the opening whistle.

Napoli nearly struck within the first two minutes through Scott McTominay and Rasmus Højlund, but the breakthrough arrived moments later when McTominay fired home a brilliant long-range effort for his ninth league goal of the campaign.

The hosts continued to dominate possession and territory, and their pressure paid off again before halftime when Højlund’s heavily deflected shot found the bottom corner to double the lead.

Cremonese’s evening went from bad to worse just before the break. McTominay produced excellent work to keep the ball alive before Kevin De Bruyne pounced on a loose touch and calmly finished from close range to make it three.

Any lingering doubt was removed early in the second half when Alisson Santos completed a rapid counterattack. After receiving the ball deep inside his own half, he surged through the middle and finished clinically for Napoli’s fourth.

Even with the result beyond doubt, Napoli kept pressing for more. Emil Audero denied Billy Gilmour with a sharp save, while Amir Rrahmani struck the woodwork, and McTominay also saw a late penalty saved.

The emphatic victory lifts Napoli into second place and temporarily delays Inter Milan’s title celebrations. However, Conte’s men still trail the leaders by nine points, with Inter holding a game in hand.
