Where did it go wrong for PSG yesterday?

PSG were in cruise control yesterday against Aston Villa, with the scoreline at 2-0 with more than 60 minutes to spare.

After Villa pulled one back, it was a frantic game from then on. Aston Villa, who were favoured by the noise of the home crowd, added two more goals to take the lead. PSG looked shocked. Any team would, especially if your 3 goal lead had been reduced to one.

So, where did it go wrong for them?

Confidence. PSG were confident but maybe a little too confident. PSG oozed confidence through their passes, but they overdid it. The passes became sloppy, they made mistakes, and began to take unnecessary risks, which put them in trouble.

Aston Villa took every chance they had to regain the ball, and in front of goal, they also were clinical, a lot more than PSG. The Parisians made too many errors in the final third. Passes should’ve been made quicker, shots should’ve been on target and again, the concentration when in possession and out of possession should be kept all the time.

This is where the game got away from them, and Enrique was livid. If they’re going to do well in the semis, they need to lock down these areas.
