Allegri Emerges Could Become Italy’s Coach If Malagò Wins FIGC Election

Reports suggest Massimiliano Allegri could become Italy’s next coach if Giovanni Malagò is elected FIGC president amid growing tension at AC Milan.

Massimiliano Allegri has reportedly emerged as the leading candidate to take over the Italy national team, depending on the outcome of the upcoming Italian Football Federation presidential election.

The Italian Football Federation is preparing for a major leadership change, with the next president set to play a key role in appointing a successor to Gennaro Gattuso. Early developments in the race have seen Giovanni Malagò gain strong backing, with 18 out of 20 Serie A clubs reportedly supporting his candidacy ahead of the June 22 election.

According to reports, Malagò would prioritise Allegri as his first choice for the national team role if he secures the presidency. The experienced coach’s track record in Italian football makes him a strong contender for the position.

This scenario has gained traction amid growing tension between Allegri and AC Milan, where results have recently dipped. Back-to-back league defeats have raised concerns over their chances of securing UEFA Champions League qualification.

Allegri only returned to AC Milan last summer for a second spell, but reports suggest that the club’s hierarchy may already be considering changes if performances do not improve. The manager himself is also believed to be frustrated with the club’s transfer strategy, which could further influence his willingness to consider a new challenge.
