Manager also provides positive updates on Patrick Dorgu and Mason Mount
Michael Carrick has confirmed Lisandro Martinez has returned to fitness after missing Manchester United’s last five Premier League matches through injury.
Martinez trained with the squad during the club’s training camp in Dublin, providing a timely boost ahead of Monday’s game against Leeds United. United will be without Harry Maguire, who is suspended following his red card against Bournemouth before the international break.
Carrick also confirmed Mason Mount is back to full fitness. The midfielder made a brief return as a late substitute in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, his first appearance since mid-January.
Patrick Dorgu is continuing his recovery in Ireland, while Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko are also part of the travelling group after withdrawing from international duty last month.
“So you were saying about the break, it’s actually worked in our favour in some ways, in terms of getting players back,” Carrick said.
“Mason’s in and around it as well, in training and he’s had that period of time to build that up. To have Licha in and around it again is good. Obviously, Harry’s going to miss the game so we’ve got Licha back around it, with Leny [Yoro] and Ayden [Heaven], and we just want to get stronger as a group really.
“So that’s part of this, trying to use that to do that this week.”
