Harry Kane resumes training with Bayern Munich ahead of their Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid, boosting hopes of his return.
Harry Kane returned to training with Bayern Munich on Monday, providing a timely boost ahead of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid.
The striker had been sidelined after picking up an ankle issue while on international duty with England in late March, forcing him to withdraw from last Tuesday’s friendly defeat to Japan at Wembley Stadium. England’s head coach Thomas Tuchel initially described the problem as a minor complaint, but Kane was subsequently left out of the squad for Bayern’s dramatic 3-2 Bundesliga win at Freiburg.
However, the England captain looked in good spirits as he took part in a 15-minute training session open to the media, easing concerns about his availability for the European showdown.
Bayern boss Vincent Kompany is expected to make a late call on Kane’s involvement, with a final decision likely to come on the evening of the match. Kane’s potential return would be a major boost given his remarkable form this season, with the forward scoring 48 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions.
He has also been particularly influential in Europe, netting 10 times in nine Champions League matches, underlining his importance as Bayern prepare for a high-stakes clash in Madrid.
