Interest in the youngster from Old Trafford is reportedly heating up
Manchester United are targeting Arsenal’s Miles Lewis-Skelly as a potential long-term replacement for Luke Shaw.
The club are understood to be seeking a new signing in the summer to refresh their options at left-back. Tyrell Malacia is set to leave permanently at the end of the season, while Patrick Dorgu, who played at left wing-back under Ruben Amorim, has been seen as more of a left winger than a left-back.
United currently rely on Shaw as their primary choice but the England international has a history of fitness issues and may be unable to handle the workload that will arise from the additional games United will play next season if they qualify for the Champions League as expected this term. The club would ideally like a young, highly rated player to compete with Shaw in the position.
Lewis-Skelly has emerged as a candidate despite being under contract at Arsenal until 2030. The 19-year-old came through the club’s academy and has already made his debut for England.
However, he has struggled for regular opportunities this season under Mikel Arteta, who has often preferred Riccardo Calafiori or Piero Hincapie in the position. There is precedent for an Arsenal youngster moving from North London to Manchester, after Chido Obi-Martin joined United from Arsenal in 2024.
Lewis-Skelly’s last appearance for Arsenal came on 15 February, when he played the full match in a 4-0 FA Cup win over Wigan Athletic.
