Atletico Madrid are preparing a new contract offer for Julian Alvarez as they look to fend off interest from Barcelona and Arsenal.
The Argentine forward is already under contract until 2030 and has a €500m release clause, but the club are keen to further secure his future as transfer speculation around him continues to grow. Reports indicate Atletico are ready to offer a significant pay rise, with a proposed deal worth around €10m per season, including bonuses. The move would see Alvarez earn a salary comparable to current top earner Jan Oblak.
Barcelona are understood to view the Argentine as a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, while Arsenal are among a few Premier League clubs monitoring his situation ahead of a potential summer move.
Alvarez’s performances this season have reinforced his importance to Atletico. The 26-year-old has recorded 17 goals and nine assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.
Despite interest from Spain and across Europe, the player is reportedly settled in Madrid, with both he and his family happy with life at the club. Atletico believe that the improved contract offer, along with the positive sporting project, should be enough to secure his long-term commitment.
