Club unwilling to revisit terms of the deal and would instead allow the 28-year-old to return to Old Trafford
Manchester United are relaxed about Marcus Rashford’s situation at Barcelona and are prepared to explore other options if the Spanish side decide against signing him permanently.
Rashford joined Barcelona on loan last summer, with an agreement in place allowing the club to complete a €30m transfer at the end of the season. However, there has been speculation that Barcelona could attempt to renegotiate the terms, either by lowering the fee or extending the loan.
United are not willing to revisit the deal and would instead allow the 28-year-old to return to Old Trafford if the option is not triggered. Club sources believe Rashford’s performances in Spain have increased his market value, potentially attracting higher offers elsewhere.
There has already been interest from clubs in England and across Europe, with Rashford still under contract at United for another two years.
If he does return, the forward is expected to be reintegrated into the squad following the departure of former head coach Ruben Amorim, who was replaced in January by Michael Carrick.
Carrick has previously worked with Rashford during spells under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, although United have yet to decide whether to appoint him permanently.
Despite uncertainty, sources close to the player indicate Rashford would prefer to remain at Barcelona, though a return to United has not been ruled out. The club, meanwhile, are considering signing a new left winger ahead of the summer window.
Barcelona are expected to make a final decision on Rashford’s future at the end of the season as they continue competing for major honours.
