Former Liverpool manager admits he is not finished yet as a coach
Jurgen Klopp has rejected reports linking him with a move to Real Madrid, although he admitted he was “not completely finished” yet as a coach.
Klopp left Liverpool in 2024 after nine years in which he became the most successful coach of the club in the modern era, delivering the Premier League, Champions League and several other major honours, as well as returning Liverpool to the very top of elite football.
His success has meant that he has always been regularly linked to taking the top job at the Bernabeu at some stage.
“If Real Madrid had phoned, we would have heard about it by now,” Klopp said. “But that’s all nonsense. They haven’t called even once – not once. My agent is there, you can ask him. They haven’t called him either.
“Right now I’m not thinking about that. Luckily, there’s no reason to.”
Klopp has previously said he had no interest in returning to coaching because he did not enjoy the job. This time, however, he left the door open for a return.
“For my age, I’m quite advanced in life, but as a coach I’m not completely finished,” Klopp said. “I haven’t reached retirement age. Who knows what will happen in the coming years? But there’s nothing planned.”
