Hjulmand initially brought some improvement to Leverkusen after taking over from Erik ten Hag in September, but the team’s form has been disappointing lately. They currently sit sixth in the league and are at risk of missing out on Champions League qualification.
The 3-3 draw with Heidenheim over the weekend was a particular low point, and it seems unlikely that Hjulmand will be able to turn things around in time. His contract runs until 2027, but it looks like he won’t see it out.
