Nottingham Forest delivered a commanding 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, strengthening their survival hopes while plunging Spurs deeper into Premier League danger.
Despite a pre-match rally from their fans, Tottenham struggled to impose themselves early on. Forest settled quicker and looked more composed in what was a crucial clash between relegation rivals.
Tottenham gradually found their rhythm and created the first real opportunity when Mathys Tel delivered a corner that was met by Richarlison, whose header flashed across the face of goal.
Moments later, the hosts nearly benefited from fortune when Igor Jesus headed Kevin Danso’s long throw against his own post.
Tottenham continued to apply pressure throughout much of the first half, but clear chances remained limited. Their efforts were undone just before the break when Forest struck with a well-executed set-piece.
Neco Williams delivered a corner that was headed back across goal by Igor Jesus, who climbed highest to open the scoring. The goal left Spurs boss Igor Tudor with plenty to reconsider at halftime.
Forest nearly doubled their lead shortly after the restart, with Williams meeting a cross from Elliot Anderson, but his header was comfortably saved by Guglielmo Vicario. However, Tottenham’s nerves soon turned to frustration.
A brilliant run from Callum Hudson-Odoi set up Morgan Gibbs-White, who calmly finished from close range to make it 2-0. Spurs rarely threatened in response, with Pape Matar Sarr’s volley well blocked by Ibrahim Sangaré.
Late on, Forest sealed the win when Taiwo Awoniyi turned home another Williams delivery.
The defeat leaves Tottenham hovering above the bottom three, despite West Ham United losing to Aston Villa and increases pressure on Tudor as boos rang out around the stadium.
