Arne Slot gives return date for the striker but warns it will take time to regain his form
Alexander Isak will soon be pack in the picture for Liverpool, after manager Arne Slot said the striker could feature again against Paris Saint-Germain after the international break.
Isak has been sidelined since December after suffering a serious leg injury against Tottenham, leaving Liverpool without their £125m striker for months. Slot has rued his absence, especially after losing their 10th game of the season against Brighton, the most number of defeats for the club in a decade.
Early on at the Amex striker Hugo Ekitike also limped off after a collision with James Milner. Slot has often said the striker has yet to get used to playing so many games at the highest level, but he has been stretched immensely by Isak’s absence.
“Alex will available [for PSG], yes,” Slot said. “The question is what you mean around ‘being ready.’
“If you want to have the player who played exactly a year ago against us in the Carabao Cup final and was too good for us on that day, then I would tell you I have my doubts about that after seven or eight months out.
“But I expect that I can use him for minutes. Exactly what I get from that I cannot tell you because he hasn’t trained with the team even once.”
