Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri described the return of the club’s supporters as an emotional moment after their 1-0 victory against AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico.

Maurizio Sarri described it as a memorable night at the Stadio Olimpico after Lazio secured a 1-0 victory over AC Milan in front of returning supporters.

The Lazio fans had been absent in recent weeks due to protests against club president Claudio Lotito, but they ended their boycott and filled the stadium again, creating an electric atmosphere for the match.

Their return appeared to inspire the team, who delivered a strong performance and claimed all three points thanks to a decisive goal from Gustav Isaksen. The winger powered past Pervis Estupiñán before beating goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Sarri admitted that the emotional atmosphere made the evening special regardless of the result, although he believed his team should have taken a larger lead during a dominant first half. As the match progressed, Lazio found it harder to maintain their early intensity, partly due to limited options on the bench as the club continues to deal with several injuries within the squad.

Players such as Danilo Cataldi, Alessio Romagnoli, Ivan Provedel, Toma Bašić, Nicolò Rovella and Samuel Gigot were all unavailable, forcing Sarri to rely on alternative options in midfield.

The coach also received a red card late in stoppage time after protesting to the referee about the length of added time, with Sarri believing the allocated six minutes had already passed.

Despite the challenges of a difficult season that has included off-field tensions and restrictions such as a transfer embargo, Sarri praised the resilience of his squad. He also expressed hope that the atmosphere created by the returning supporters could help rebuild unity around the club as Lazio prepare for the closing weeks of the season and a crucial Coppa Italia semi-final against Atalanta.
