Borussia Dortmund could face a major squad overhaul as Süle, Özcan, and Brandt prepare to leave while several other key players consider their futures.

Borussia Dortmund could be heading toward a significant squad shake-up this summer, with several key players either confirmed to be leaving or reportedly considering their futures at the club.

Managing director for sport Lars Ricken has confirmed that both Niklas Süle and Salih Özcan will depart when their contracts expire at the end of the season.

Speaking in an interview, Ricken explained that discussions had been held with both players and that the decision to part ways was reached amicably after open conversations between the club and the two footballers.

Süle joined Dortmund in 2022 on a free transfer from Bayern Munich and has made more than 100 appearances for the club. Özcan also arrived in the same year after signing from Köln and has featured regularly in midfield since his move.

The departures add to the growing list of players expected to leave Dortmund, with Julian Brandt already confirming that he will move on when his current deal expires.

Uncertainty also surrounds several other important figures in the squad. Defenders and midfield leaders such as Nico Schlotterbeck and Emre Can are entering the final stages of their contracts and have yet to commit their long-term futures to the club.

Meanwhile, attackers and midfielders including Serhou Guirassy, Felix Nmecha and Karim Adeyemi have also been linked with possible moves away. With so many key names uncertain about their futures, Dortmund could be preparing for a major rebuilding phase ahead of next season.
