Club are on course for a Champions League finish but will need to bolster their squad in the summer
Manchester United have identified a shortlist of replacements for Marcus Rashford after the forward completes an expected permanent move to Barcelona this summer.
Rashford is currently on loan with the Catalan club, who hold an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season and are understood to be ready to utilise it.
United signed Matheus Cunha last summer but he is more of an inside forward. The recruitment department wants a player with dribbling capabilities out on the left flank of their attack.
According to reports in Spain, Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola is among the leading names on the club’s radar. The French attacker played a prominent role in PSG’s Champions League triumph last season and is viewed as one of the most exciting young wide players in European football.
Another name being considered is RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande. The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international has impressed scouts with his pace and direct style, contributing 11 goals and seven assists in 27 appearances across all competitions this season.
United are believed to be looking for a player capable of handling the intensity and physical demands of the Premier League.
The shortlist reportedly also includes Jesus Rodriguez, a 20-year-old Spaniard currently developing at Como under Cesc Fabregas. Rodriguez has become an important figure in the Italian club’s attack and has provided seven assists in Serie A during the current campaign.
Martial Godo, another young winger attracting attention, is also being monitored. The 22-year-old Strasbourg player has recorded 12 goals and five assists in all competitions this season.
There are also reports that United have an eye on Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye. The Senegal international has only produced five goals and three assists this season but is recognised as one of the most capable dribblers in the Premier League. His Premier League experience also fits into United’s previous summer strategy of targeting players proven in the English game.
United are third in the league and on course for a Champions League finish, although they still face a hard battle until the end of the season.
