Wrexham’s Hollywood dream in the FA Cup has come to an end as Chelsea won 4-2 at the Racecourse.

Before the start of the game, the racecourse was buzzing. Wrexham were hosting Premier League giants Chelsea in the fifth round of the FA Cup, and the Dragons wanted to show they could hang with the big boys.

Wrexham fans were supporting their team as loudly as they could, and in the 18th minute, they were even louder as Sam Smith gave them the lead against Chelsea. Chelsea had possessed the ball but didn’t really do anything with it, and Wrexham made sure they paid for being too relaxed in possession as they went ahead.

In response, Chelsea pushed for a goal, and they were rewarded in the 40th minute when Garnacho fired the ball towards the net. The ball was cleared off the line by the Wrexham defender; however, the clearance was straight into the goalkeeper. The ball bounced off the keeper and back into the net, leading to Chelsea’s equalizer.

In the second half, Chelsea continued to push for a goal, and they came close several times through Hato, Neto, and Garnacho. In the midst of these missed chances, Wrexham made the Blues pay again as Doyle flicked a shot from a Wrexham corner past Sanchez and into the back of the net.

Wrexham were living the dream but that dream was cut short less than six minutes after they scored as Acheampong fired a shot into the roof of the net to pull Chelsea level.

As both teams pushed for the lead, things took a turn for Wrexham as Dobson was red-carded for a ridiculous tackle on Garnacho. This reduced Wrexham to 10 men going into extra time.

With a man advantage, Chelsea wasted no time in going in front once again as Garnacho tapped in from close range to make it 3-2. However, the game had a dramatic turn when Wrexham scored again to make it 3-3 in the final ten minutes of extra time, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.

Chelsea then sealed the game with a solo effort from Joao Pedro to make it 4-2 on the night. Chelsea are now through to the last eight, while Wrexham sees their Hollywood run come to a dramatic end.
