Bayer Leverkusen made history by winning an away knockout tie in the UEFA Champions League for the first time, thanks to Patrik Schick’s brace in a 2-0 victory over Olympiacos.
The match began with Olympiacos taking the initiative, as Mehdi Taremi slammed an early chance wide. However, Leverkusen’s Schick was denied at close range, and Ernest Poku’s shot flew across goal and wide of the far post.
The Greek side’s first shot on target came through Gelson Martins, but his shot was tipped around the post.
The first half was filled with intense moments, including Tzolakis’ remarkable block of Ibrahim Maza’s point-blank volley onto the bar. Poku also missed a one-on-one opportunity, and Ayoub El Kaabi’s goal was ruled out for offside following VAR intervention.
After the break, Olympiacos continued to push, with Martins firing narrowly over the bar and Giulian Biancone’s header going off target before Leverkusen’s Alejandro Grimaldo had a tame strike saved by Tzolakis.
The deadlock was finally broken when Schick scored on the hour mark, running onto Poku’s pass and bending it past the goalkeeper.
Massive result! We go again next week! 😮💨🖤❤️

Just three minutes later, Schick doubled his tally, flicking a header home from a corner. This marked his fourth goal in as many matches. The game was effectively killed off, with substitute Lorenzo Scipioni’s effort curling over.
This win marks Leverkusen’s sixth victory in seven outings since losing to Olympiacos in January, ending a run of four trips to Greece without a win.
The return leg is scheduled for next week, and Leverkusen will be looking to seal their place in the next round.
