Chelsea were absolutely dominant against Legia Warsaw, and for travelling fans, they’re just glad the match didn’t end the way it started. Chelsea, although slow in the first half, ramped up the energy in the second half, and there are few conclusions we can draw from the match.

Patience is key

If you’re going to watch 90 minutes of a Chelsea team under the leadership of Enzo Maresca, you need to learn one thing. Patience.

Maresca likes his team to have to ball more, pass it around and build up slowly rather than the direct attack seen in other big teams. Honestly, it can be very frustrating to watch, but many times, it does pay off.

While this slow build-up has cost the team this season, Chelsea can get very fierce quickly and ramp up goals very quickly, as we saw yesterday.

Nkunku disappointing again

Yesterday was another game to forget for Christopher Nkunku. The French forward barely had any attacking input on the game, and it’s becoming a concern for many who believe he can challenge Nicolas Jackson for the number 9 spot.

The French forward was gifted a penalty to take Chelsea’s tally to three goals, but his penalty was saved by the goalkeeper. That missed penalty summed up his display yesterday.

George showing promise

Chelsea youngster Tyrique George was handed another start in the Conference League yesterday, and it probably was his happiest day in the blue shirt.

The winger was very quick in his decision-making and he put his marker to the test every time he got the ball. He was rewarded with a goal, his first in a Chelsea shirt which fans believe will spur him on to do more.

With the abundance of wingers available at the club, it’s not expected that he will be guaranteed minutes but his display yesterday showed that young winger can be counted on when the time comes.
