How Lucky Were Lyon Against Manchester United?

In the Europa League encounter between Manchester United and Lyon, one can easily assume that Lyon were lucky to get a draw from the game.

They had one player to thank on the night, and it was Andre Onana who spilled a last-gasp shot that fell kindly to Cherki, who tapped it into the net.

If Onana had managed to direct the ball elsewhere, Lyon would have fallen behind and only had themselves to blame.

From the get-go, the French team were the better side. It is clear from the way they attacked, strung passes together and even ran after second balls. They were all over Manchester United but failed to capitalize on this.

Although they drew first blood from a free kick by Almada and rescued a point in the last minute of the game, they have an Onana disaster class to thank

The French team couldn’t find the finishing touch, especially in the second half. They could’ve easily killed the game with time to spare. They looked more likely to thrill their supporters than put the game past United.

Ahead of the second leg, they need to work on their finishing in front of the goal and keeping their concentration throughout the game; otherwise, they will be stunned by Manchester United.
