Genoa took an early lead from the penalty spot, with Ruslan Malinovskyi scoring calmly after Alex Meret fouled Vitinha. However, Napoli fought back with two quick goals before halftime. Hojlund tapped in the rebound from Scott McTominay’s saved shot, and McTominay followed up with a stunning strike from distance.
McTominay’s injury at halftime didn’t help Napoli, who made a sloppy start to the second period.
Lorenzo Colombo restored parity before the hour mark, and Juan Jesus’s red card in the 76th minute seemed to seal Genoa’s fate. But Maxwel Cornet’s clumsy challenge on Antonio Vergara gifted Napoli a late penalty, which Hojlund converted to snatch all three points.
This win marks Napoli’s second away victory of 2026 and closes the gap to leaders Inter Milan to six points.
