AC Milan are monitoring Moise Kean ahead of the summer window but are reluctant to activate the Fiorentina striker’s €62m release clause.

AC Milan are reportedly exploring a potential move for Italy international Moise Kean ahead of the summer transfer window, though the Rossoneri are not prepared to meet the €62 million release clause included in the striker’s Fiorentina contract.

The 25-year-old has emerged as a fresh option as Milan continue to assess their attacking plans for next season.

AC Milan were actively searching for another centre-forward during the January transfer window. They completed the signing of Niclas Füllkrug from West Ham and also reached an agreement with Crystal Palace for Jean-Philippe Mateta in a deal valued at around €35 million, signalling a clear intent to strengthen their frontline.

However, the Mateta move ultimately collapsed after AC Milan raised concerns during the player’s medical examination. Fears that the French striker could require knee surgery prompted the club to pull out of the deal, leaving the Rossoneri without an additional attacking reinforcement before the window closed.

Despite that setback, AC Milan are expected to revisit their striker options in the summer. Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic remains on their radar, especially with his contract set to expire at the end of the season. Even so, the deal is complicated by commission demands that could reportedly reach €20 million, making negotiations far from straightforward.

According to Italian media, AC Milan have now added Fiorentina striker Moise Kean to their list of targets. Kean is well known to AC Milan coach Allegri from their time together at Juventus and is also understood to share a close friendship with Rossoneri star Rafael Leao, which are factors that could help Milan’s case.

Kean signed a contract extension with Fiorentina last summer, committing his future to the club until 2029. That deal includes a release clause worth €62 million, which can be activated in a short window between July 1 and July 15, placing Fiorentina in a strong negotiating position.

AC Milan, however, are reluctant to trigger the clause at that price and are instead hoping Fiorentina might be open to negotiating a lower, but still significant, fee.
