Roma defender Gianluca Mancini has undergone surgery for a broken nose and will return to action wearing a protective mask.

Roma defender Gianluca Mancini has successfully undergone surgery to treat a nasal bone fracture and is expected to continue playing in the coming matches while wearing a protective mask.

The Italy international picked up the injury during the first half of Roma’s 1-0 defeat to Udinese on Monday night. Despite the injury, Mancini stayed on the pitch and completed the full 90 minutes.

According to Italian reports, the 29-year-old underwent surgery on Tuesday, February 3, to reduce the fracture. The procedure was carried out without complications. The defender is expected to be discharged within hours of the procedure and will be cleared to resume competitive action almost immediately. However, he would wear a protective mask to protect the injured area.

Mancini has been a key figure for Roma this season, contributing one goal and one assist in 30 appearances across all competitions, while remaining a regular presence in the heart of the defence.

Roma’s next fixture is scheduled for Monday, February 9, when they host Cagliari at the Stadio Olimpico and Mancini is expected to be available despite the injury.
