Juventus are weighing up a late move for Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth as the January transfer window enters its final hours.
Juventus are reportedly considering a last-minute move for Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth with less than 24 hours remaining in the January transfer window. The Bianconeri are still keen to reinforce their attacking options before the deadline, as Spalletti looks to add firepower to his squad.
According to reports in Italy, Juventus’ priority remains re-signing Randal Kolo Muani, who spent last season on loan in Turin. However, that deal has become increasingly complicated due to Tottenham Hotspur’s reluctance to cut short the striker’s current loan spell in North London.
Paris Saint-Germain, Kolo Muani’s parent club, are said to be open to sending the France international back to Juventus. The major stumbling block is Tottenham, who are currently unwilling to terminate the loan agreement despite Juventus’ continued interest.
If an opening does appear for Kolo Muani, he would still be Juventus’ first choice on deadline day. The club, however, are preparing contingency plans in case negotiations fail to progress in time, one of which is Alexander Sorloth.
Sorloth has enjoyed a solid campaign in Spain, scoring seven goals in 21 LaLiga appearances so far this season and 10 in 30 matches across all competitions. The Norwegian also boasts an impressive recent record, having scored over 20 league goals in each of his last two full seasons in LaLiga.
Elsewhere, former Inter striker Mauro Icardi has also been linked with a deadline-day move, but Spalletti has publicly dismissed the rumours. Speaking after Juventus’ 4-1 win over Parma, Spaletti insisted the club would only move for a player with specific qualities, adding that if the right profile is not found, Juventus are prepared to stick with their current options.
