Chelsea will add one more centre-back to their roster before the transfer window closes later today.

Chelsea have been in the market for a new centre-back, and they seemed to have gotten one when they pushed to sign Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes.

However, the Blues stalled that race as they recalled Aaron Anselmino from his Dortmund loan. Anselmino, who joined Chelsea during the FIFA Club World Cup, was sent on loan to Dortmund for development.

In recalling Anselmino, it was expected that he would join Chelsea’s roster. However, he’s been prepared to go on loan to Strasbourg, and to add a twist, Chelsea loanee Mamadou Sarr would leave Strasbourg and join the Blues just before the close of the transfer window.

Sarr has been an instrumental player for Strasbourg, playing under current Chelsea coach Liam Rosenior. He also just won the African Cup of Nations with Senegal, adding to his credentials.

Chelsea have now recalled Sarr, with Anselmino going the other way, adding to the growing list of young CBs at the club.

Sarr and Anselmino’s moves this transfer window have put a dent in Jeremy Jacquet’s transfer talks. Chelsea have stalled and are not really considering signing Jacquet in January. Liverpool have now taken over, with the Reds now in pole position to sign the defender before the transfer window closes.
