Bayern Munich have dropped points for the second consecutive week as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Hamburger SV at the Volksparkstadion.

Bayern Munich lost to Augsburg last week, marking their first loss in the Bundesliga this season and they would’ve hoped for a good response today but Hamburger SV had other plans.

The match got off to a lively start, with Michael Olise and Lennart Karl forcing Hamburger SV goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes into two strong stops.

Joshua Kimmich then had a shot hit the crossbar, but after showing his attacking ability, Kimmich gave away a penalty, which Fabio Vieira converted to put Hamburg ahead.

However, Harry Kane soon equalized for Bayern, turning home his 22nd league goal of the season. The visitors took the lead again early in the second half through Luis Diaz, but Hamburg fought back to level the score through Luka Vuskovic.

Vincent Kompany’s side had chances to win the game, but they were unable to capitalize. Vieira had a shot cleared off the line by Alphonso Davies, and Bayern had to be content with a draw.

The result moves Hamburg up to 13th, while Bayern remain top of the table but have seen their lead reduced to nine points. Borussia Dortmund now have the chance to close the gap at the top.
