Bayern Munich staged an incredible comeback to defeat Koln 3-1 in the Bundesliga, extending their unbeaten run against Die Geißböcke to 22 matches since February 2011.

Koln started strong, with Said El Mala forcing a save from Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer inside 90 seconds. However, the hosts’ momentum was briefly halted due to smoke from flares in the stands.

Linton Maina kept Koln’s hopes alive with a threatening cross, but Bayern’s defense held firm. Bayern created chances of their own, with Marvin Schwabe denying Hiroki Ito and Michael Olise. Despite this, Koln took the lead in the 41st minute when Maina scored a spectacular solo goal, beating Neuer with a superb finish.

Bayern Munich equalized just before halftime through Serge Gnabry’s ingenious touch and finish.

The second half saw Bayern dominate, but Koln’s defense held strong initially. However, Bayern’s pressure paid off when Kim Min-jae headed in a Hiroki Ito cross to give Bayern the lead. Teenager Lennart Karl sealed the win with a clinical finish from Luis Diaz’s assist.

The victory saw Bayern beat their own record for the best-ever first half of a Bundesliga season, with 47 points and an 11-point lead over second-placed Borussia Dortmund. Koln, despite losing three of their last four Bundesliga matches, can take encouragement from their performance.

The win moves Bayern closer to securing the Bundesliga title, while Koln will look to bounce back from this defeat. Bayern’s next challenge is hosting Union Saint-Gilloise in the Champions League.
