PSG were stunned in the Coupe de France as Paris FC claimed a historic 1-0 derby win at the Parc des Princes, knocking out the reigning champions.

PSG were dumped out of the Coupe de France on Monday night after a stunning 1-0 defeat to city rivals Paris FC, ending the holders’ hopes of retaining the trophy. Former PSG academy graduate Jonathan Ikoné proved the difference, coming off the bench to score the decisive goal in a dramatic Paris derby at the Parc des Princes.

Ikoné struck in the final 20 minutes, poking home on the counter-attack to silence the home crowd and send Paris FC into the last 16. The result marked PSG’s first home defeat in the competition since 2022 and their earliest exit at this stage since 2014, bringing an abrupt end to another domestic cup run.

“It’s a huge joy,” Ikoné said after the match. “We defended really well, and I’m happy to score. I hope it’s not my last goal.” Out of respect for his former club, the winger declined to celebrate after finding the net.

The night had begun with an emotional moment as former PSG captain Mamadou Sakho announced his retirement on the pitch before kick-off. Sakho started his youth career at Paris FC before making his name across the city with PSG, adding extra significance to the derby occasion.

PSG, who beat Paris FC 2-1 in a league meeting earlier this month, dominated much of the first half. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia looked the most dangerous for Luis Enrique’s side, probing consistently, though the champions failed to turn possession into a breakthrough.

Nkambadio helped Paris FC preserve their lead with two outstanding saves in stoppage time, denying Désiré Doué and Vitinha to complete a famous night for the underdogs and a humiliating cup exit for PSG.
