Scott McTominay scored a brace to help Napoli rescue a 2-2 draw against Inter Milan in a thrilling Serie A encounter
Inter took the lead in the ninth minute through Federico Dimarco’s pinpoint strike, but Napoli fought back to equalize in the 26th minute thanks to McTominay’s clinical finish.
The Scotland international then sprinted to dispossess Piotr Zielinski with a one-man press, but his shot was denied by Yann Sommer. Inter continued to press, but Napoli’s defense held firm, and they had chances to score before the break.
After the restart, Napoli had two major chances, but Rasmus Hojlund’s shot grazed the post, and Giovanni Di Lorenzo made a mess of his header. Inter’s Antonio Conte was furious when a penalty was awarded against Napoli, and he was shown a red card.
Hakan Calhanoglu’s spot kick went in off the post, but Inter’s lead lasted just eight minutes as McTominay scored his second goal of the day. The result sees Napoli reclaim third place, while Inter’s six-game winning run in Serie A comes to an end.
Inter remains top of the table, three points ahead of Napoli.
