Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli has apologized for trying to push injured Liverpool defender Conor Bradley off the pitch during their 0-0 draw.

Bradley landed awkwardly and clutched his knee, prompting Martinelli to shove him in the back, sparking a melee between players.

Martinelli claimed he didn’t realize Bradley was seriously injured, saying, “I really didn’t understand he was seriously injured in the heat of the moment.” He apologized to Bradley, and the two players have been in contact.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot expressed concern over Bradley’s injury, fearing it could be serious. He defended Martinelli, saying he’d act differently if he knew the extent of the injury.

Former Manchester United players Gary Neville and Roy Keane criticized Martinelli, calling his actions “absolutely disgraceful” and describing him as an “idiot.” Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta described Martinelli as an “incredible, lovely guy” who didn’t intend to harm Bradley. Arteta hopes Bradley’s injury isn’t severe.

Bradley’s teammate, Dominik Szoboszla,i said the defender was in extreme pain and “didn’t want to come back on the pitch for time-wasting.”

Martinelli’s actions drew yellow cards for him and Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate. Bradley was taken away on a stretcher and left Emirates Stadium on crutches with a knee brace.
