Chelsea have dropped out of the top four in the Premier League after losing 2-1 to Fulham.

Chelsea’s new coach Liam Rosenior will have to wave a magic wand when he gets to  work at the club. After playing a 1-1 draw against Manchester City, Chelsea failed to build on that result when they played Fulham this evening.

The Blues started well, piling pressure on the Fulham defence but things quickly turned sour when Cucurella was red-carded for a foul on Harry Wilson during a Fulham counter. The red card took the momentum from Chelsea and left them at the mercy of their London neighbours.

Fulham who struggled to build from the back or get the ball to Wilson and Smith Rowe finally found space and time. It was not long before Fulham were ahead as Harry Wilson slotted a well-worked goal past Robert Sanchez. The goal was however ruled for offside, with the first half ending 0-0.

In the second half, Fulham continued to bit at Chelsea and they finally took the lead as Jimenez headed from close range to beat Robert Sanchez.

Chelsea needed a response and the Blues started to play better, creating chances and giving the Fulham defence something to worry about. Liam Delap who was one of Chelsea’s best player on the night pulled them level from a corner.

However, Chelsea couldn’t hold onto the draw as Harry Wilson, after showing some fine skill, found the bottom of the net to give Fulham the lead.

Chelsea have now dropped to 7th in the Premier League and are level on points with Fulham. The Blues will now need to focus on making top 4 and clinching a Champions League spot when Liam Rosenior takes over as the Premier League Title may just be out of their reach.
