Tottenham Hotspur’s Archie Gray scores his first professional goal in a 1-0 win at Crystal Palace, determined to learn from mistakes and keep improving.

Tottenham Hotspur teenager Archie Gray has scored his first professional goal, helping Spurs secure a valuable 1-0 win at Crystal Palace. The 19-year-old midfielder headed home a Richarlison flick in his 112th professional appearance.

Gray was at fault for a goal in Spurs’ 3-0 loss at Nottingham Forest two weeks ago, but manager Thomas Frank backed him, and he retained his place. “It was a difficult game for me at Forest,” Gray said.

The teen midfielder is determined to learn from mistakes. “If I make a mistake, that is football sometimes, and I have just got to learn from that,” he told the media.

Gray comes from a footballing family, with relatives including Eddie and Frank Gray, Leeds legends of the 1970s. His dad, Andy Gray, advised him to “go get on the ball and don’t be scared” after mistakes.

Gray’s goal showcased his determination and quality. “I just found myself in the right place at the right time,” he said, crediting Richarlison’s flick.

Spurs’ win was scrappy, but Gray emphasized the team’s mentality. “Our back four was amazing, and everyone had the mentality,” he said.
