Ollie Watkins was Aston Villa’s hero as they came from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1
Chelsea lost to Aston Villa courtesy of two goals from substitute Oliie Watkins on a day where three points were crucial for the Blues.
Chelsea were without Enzo Maresca due to a touchline ban but the Blues fought on brilliantly as they put up an impressive first half performance.
Chelsea were bullying Aston Villa and for most part, they were unlucky to score a good number of their chances. Their goal however came in the 37th minute as Joao Pedro converted a Reece James corner.
The Blues ended the first half on a high and in the second half, they missed a couple of chances, which they would eventually regret.
Aston Villa pulled one back in the 64th minute through Oliie Watkins who was introduced as a substitute. All of Chelsea’s hard work was undone in the second half and in the 84th minute, Watkins put the final nail in the coffin, condemning Chelsea to a 2-1 defeat.
This win makes it Villa’s 11th consecutive win, reaffirming their push for the Premier League while Chelsea drop to fifth place and could slip from the title race into a battle for top 4.
